Great Sacandaga Lake Water Level Update – June 5, 2026
Great Sacandaga Lake Water Level Update
The Great Sacandaga Lake water level is currently 767.74 feet as of June 5, 2026. Last week, on May 29, the lake level was 768.79 feet, showing a decrease of just over one foot during the past seven days.
Compared to last year, the lake remains close to normal seasonal levels. On June 5, 2025, the water level was 768.44 feet, which is only about 0.70 feet higher than today’s reading.
While some lakefront property owners may notice a little more shoreline, the lower water level could be good news for permit holders. If levels continue to trend downward, many permit holders may enjoy larger beaches by the time the Fourth of July holiday arrives.
Water Temperature and Lake Conditions
The current water temperature is approximately 63 degrees. While the water is warming up, it is still cool enough that boaters, swimmers, and paddlers should use caution when spending time on the water.
The lake has remained fairly calm over the past several days, creating favorable conditions for launching boats and enjoying time on the water. Calm conditions can make launching easier, especially for seasonal boaters getting their boats in for the summer.
Increased Law Enforcement Presence
Many boaters have likely noticed an increase in law enforcement patrols around the lake over the past couple of weeks. This is always a welcome sight.
Local law enforcement agencies play an important role in boater safety through education, assistance, and enforcement. Whether helping stranded boaters, providing safety information, or responding to emergencies, their presence helps make the lake safer and more enjoyable for everyone.
