Great Sacandaga Lake July Water Level Update

If you’ve been following our weekly lake reports, welcome back to our Great Sacandaga Lake July water level update. I missed last week’s report while I was out of town visiting family, but we’re back with the latest information on lake conditions, water temperatures, and what to expect around the Great Sacandaga Lake as of July 17, 2026.

Current Great Sacandaga Lake Water Level

As of July 17, 2026, the Great Sacandaga Lake is sitting at 764.39 feet above NGVD 1929.

For comparison, on June 17, 2026, the lake measured 767.10 feet, meaning the water level has dropped approximately 2.71 feet over the past month.

This gradual decline is common during the summer as the Hudson River-Black River Regulating District continues managing lake levels. The lower elevation also allows many permit holders to enjoy larger beaches and additional shoreline throughout the summer season.

Water Temperature and Recreation

Current water temperatures are hovering around 69 degrees, according to LakeMonster.com.

The warm weather has brought plenty of activity to the lake. Boaters, jet skiers, tubers, paddleboarders, and swimmers have been taking full advantage of the beautiful summer conditions.

Fishing has also remained productive, with anglers reporting good success throughout many areas of the lake.

Enjoy the Lake Safely

Summer weekends can be very busy on the Great Sacandaga Lake. Whether you’re boating, fishing, or simply relaxing along the shoreline, remember to:

  • Always wear a properly fitted life jacket.
  • Operate boats at safe speeds.
  • Watch carefully for swimmers, paddleboarders, and kayakers.
  • Stay alert as changing water levels may expose rocks, sandbars, or other hazards.

A little extra caution helps everyone enjoy a safe day on the water.

Thinking About Great Sacandaga Lake Real Estate?

Whether you’re looking for a year-round waterfront home, a seasonal camp, or a property with lake access, the Great Sacandaga Lake continues to be one of Upstate New York’s premier recreational destinations.

If you’re considering buying or selling around the lake, I’d be happy to discuss current market conditions and help you navigate the process.
