Fishing the Great Sacandaga Lake with Aaron’s Guide Service

Youtube video

Yesterday, a group of friends and I had the opportunity to spend several hours on the water with a Great Sacandaga Lake fishing guide, Aaron from Aaron’s Guide Service. After nearly 30 years of spending time around the Great Sacandaga Lake, I was surprised by just how much I learned during one fishing trip.

And the fishing wasn’t bad either!

A Great Day of Fishing on Great Sacandaga Lake

By the end of our trip, our group had caught approximately 15 fish, including seven walleye, a couple of bass, several rock bass and a couple of perch.

Aaron seemed to have a great understanding of where the fish were holding and how the underwater structure of the lake affected where we should be fishing.

He moved us around, changed locations when necessary and kept working to put us on fish throughout the trip.

More Than Just a Fishing Trip

One of my favorite parts of the day actually had nothing to do with catching fish.

As we traveled around the lake, Aaron shared some of his knowledge about what lies beneath the waters of the Great Sacandaga.

I’ve been coming to this area for almost 30 years, and he showed us locations and underwater features that I never knew existed.

That made the trip both entertaining and educational.

We caught fish, learned a few things about the lake and, most importantly, had a really great day with friends.

After almost 30 years around the Great Sacandaga Lake, I’m still finding new things to experience—and this was definitely one of them.
